Mebuyan’s Vessel, an homage to the Bagobo goddess of the underworld, is an installation of 21 interconnected, inhabitable pods right on the beach of San Juan, La Union. It is artist Leeroy New’s (@leeroynew) gift to our shores, a portal to many possibilities and new myths for the coastal town that we live in. It will be open to the public starting Saturday, July 23.

Our little team at Emerging Islands has the pleasure of programming the pods with community storytelling and educational activities that will run for a full year. With Mebuyan, we hope to tell the story of La Union, and the many issues and contexts facing our coast.
